The LYNX is a medium-sized member of the cat family. It is found in circumpolar northern coniferous forests from western Europe across Asia to the Bering Straits and in North America from Alaska to Newfoundland and southward to the northern United States.
The lynx has a short body, long legs with oversized padded feet, and a stubby tail. A prominent black -stripped ruff surrounds the face, and the ears are pointed and tipped with long pencils of black hairs, The tail is also black tipped. The long thick coat of the lynx has a gray, frosted appearance on the back, but the underparts and legs are more buffy and indistinctly spotted.
Its fur is valuable and it is greatly endangered.
